VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Once you sign up, that job is your responsibility. If you have a conflict arise, you need to find a substitute or trade.
NOTE: GROUP HELPERS ON SHOW NIGHTS SHOULD ONLY SIGN UP FOR ONE OF THOSE NIGHTS SO EVERYONE SEES THE SHOW ONCE.
• Group Leader: Be at all rehearsals, or at least 80% of them. Help the group directors and choreographers teach the song and dance to your group along with your helpers. Take roll, help keep your group organized. Coordinate the backstage activities, make-up (if applicable), costumes, and cues w/the aid of your group helpers.
• Group Helper: Be at your assigned rehearsal times. Help teach the song and dance to your group. Take roll. Write down the order the kids need to be in for their line up. Help the kids know which is their right hand, or left foot, etc. If at SVHS, help the group mom coordinate and organize the kids for backstage (waiting and getting on and off stage) ‘crowd control’ for your group.
•Group Costume coordinator: Make sure the parents know what your group needs for costumes. Oversee that all kids have their entire costumes. Receive your group costumes from the head costume coordinator. Hand out costume parts and collect and account for all of them after the last show. Give to costume washers.
- Head Costume Coordinator: Work with theater leadership to hand out costumes to each group costume coordinator. Keep a written account of who has which costumes so we can account for all costume pieces after show.
• Sets: Go to the assigned location for your day and time and help the set designer with building, painting and any other set design project.
• Data Entry: Take the information gathered for your assigned group and type it into a list which you can then email to us. We will give you the form online.
• Email input: Take the entire cast list and input all the email addresses into the SYT email.
• Clean up: Help clean the venue at your assigned time. Depending on location and date, basic sweeping, vacuuming, emptying trash, picking up any lost and found, washing glass doors. At SVHS we have to leave the school clean after the last show.
• Load in and out: Help carry in and set up (or take down and carry out) the sets at SVHS.
• Wireless Microphone Supervisor: Supervise and coordinate the best way to transfer the head mics for the different scenes .
• Stage hand: Help the Stage Manager with props, making sure groups are lined up to come onstage, help w/mic exchanges as needed and help w/traffic flow backstage, etc….
Runner: Follow along the script and go get each group in time for them to line up off stage for their entrance. Must be able to attend the dress rehearsals and shows. If we have 2 runners, you can share the job, but each must attend minimum 1 rehearsal at SVHS and 1 show.
Information distribution: Make copies at the city offices. Cut as appropriate and distribute announcements/sign-ups to schools and put up posters.
Sewing coordinator: hand out, keep track of and collect sewing projects from sewing team and deliver to head costume coordinator for distribution.
Sewing: Sew costume parts as needed at your home, or possibly in sewing groups as organized by the sewing lead.
